Mauri kain te auti! Ti na kawaringkami!
Haha. I think I've said that like ten thousand times here...
This past week has been great! I'm finally feeling better...meaning, I
no longer have a 104 fever and do not feel like I swallowed broken
glass. It was so weird; my throat hurt so badly I couldn't talk,
exercise, breath too hard, or eat (that's the big one right there) for
about 4 days. What kind of crazy sickness does that....anyways, I'm
feeling better now!! Tylenol and throat drops are tender mercies from
above...
The craziness of the mission tour and the transfer has slowed down
now, so we finally had some time to consistently visit our
investigators this week. I'm still pretty new to the area so I'm still
working on getting to know everyone. There are so many people here in
Tarawa compared to Nonouti. The houses are so close together. One the
bright side, it makes it really easy to get fellowshippers for our
investigators because everyone has like ten immediate neighbors that
we can go to. Eita first ward (my current area) was the first ward
ever created in Kiribati, so it's pretty well established. We have
church at Moroni High School. There are SOOOO many members here. I
never really appreciated having solid member families in our ward
until coming off of Nonouti and working here in Eita. I'm just so
happy at church to see all these faithful families!
Despite not having a ton of proselyting time these past few weeks, one
of our investigators passed their baptismal interview this week! It
was the family that we taught with Elder Nattress when we went out and
worked with him for an afternoon. Of course she's getting baptised -
how could you not after getting a lesson from a general authority? Her
less-active husband also came to church with her for the first time
this past week! Whoo! Progress!!!
Other than that, it was a pretty standard week. Lessons. Errands.
Trying to speak Kiribati. Being a missionary is the best.
Love,
Elder Barker
